On Sunday, February 24, our 61st Annual Meeting was held at White’s Of Westport. Chairman Mendes greeted the members and acknowledged the newest members from Fall River. He also recognized the passing of founder and Vice-Chairman Antone Costa. Chairman Mendes then reported on some of economic challenges for 2012 and the current economic environment and how the Westport Federal Credit Union has prospered even during these difficult times. For some of these credit unions that burden was too great and they had to look for alternative ways to protect their members. Because of this, in 2012 the WFCU was presented with an opportunity to merge with the OLOH Credit Union. This was one of our largest undertakings for 2012.

Reports were also given on 2012 loan balances and applications, membership applications, scholarship applications, and the 2012 auditing results, which rendered a favorable opinion. Next, three directors, James Coyne, Wallace Fletcher and Dennis Egan, were re-elected for three year terms. There being no more business, the meeting was adjourned and followed by raffle prizes and a light luncheon.
