After the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Westport Federal Credit Union employees wanted to pay tribute to the teachers and students that lost their lives in Newtown, CT.

The United Way of CT set up a Sandy Hook School Support Fund (through Newtown Savings Bank) to help with the needs and funeral expenses for the victims’ immediate family. Donations were collected from employees that wanted to participate in a casual day to benefit this fund. Employees wore the Sandy Hook Elementary School colors of green and white and with the help of our members, raised nearly $1,000 for this fund. Westport Federal Credit Union matched that (plus a little extra) to bring our total contribution to $2,000!
